McLean & Schultz: Structural Engineering & Architecture

McLean & Schultz's consulting services were contracted by the Port of Long Angeles to obtain the approval and issuance of a permanent occupancy permit for a fabric tension structure at Berth 55. This fabric tension structure supposed a 50,000 square foot expansion of the wharf facilities at Berth 55. Widely used as operational facilities in ports all around the world, these types of structures feature a high strength PVC coated polyester membrane cladding that is tensioned over an engineered structural steel frame. McLean & Schultz worked in close coordination with the Port of Los Angeles and the Building and Fire Departments, along with the RUBB Building Systems, to come up with an economical solution that could fulfill the requests and limitations of all the parties involved.
