McLean & Schultz: Structural Engineering & Architecture

This Bridge, located on Hill Street (later renamed Coast Highway) over the San Luis Rey River in the City of Oceanside in San Diego County, California, was originally built in 1929. It is approximately 927 feet long and 49 feet wide carrying one lane of traffic in each direction. The proposed retrofit consisted of replacing the existing bearings with isolation bearings, providing restraints as needed to limit displacement and prevent “unseating,” strengthening select truss members and end frames, and providing continuity splices between main spans and approach spans.
