McLean & Schultz: Structural Engineering & Architecture

The Fifth Street Separation Overhead is a 63 feet wide by 297 feet long, 5-span steel I-girder overhead structure.  It carries Fifth Street over four BNSF/UP Railroad tracks and State Route 66.  Eight simple span steel I-girders equally spaced across the span, support a conventionally reinforced 6-3/4 inch thick concrete slab deck.  The steel girders are riveted to and hang from a  built-up steel bent cap  supported by a W-shaped built-up steel frame that is anchored into the top of the concrete pier wall.
