Located in Camp Pendleton, San Diego, the Del Mar Bridge was constructed in 1946 as a seven span steel structure with a concrete cast-in-place deck with concrete curb and barrier. With an overall bridge length of 303 feet and an overall out to out width of 34 feet, the bridge spans two railway lines within the North County Transit District (NCTD) Right-of-Way. The seismic retrofit consisted of providing vertical restraint at the columns, widening the concrete pedestals and adding concrete blocking and transverse shear keys at the abutments, and longitudinal and transverse strengthening of the hinges.
